Mamaa Saiz : A Passion for Music

It's sometimes hard to find purely genuine people. People who are not only incredibly friendly, but have a passion for what they do in life. Mamaa Saiz is one of those people. He is an amazing guitarist and singer in Second Life, with an exquisite personality to match. Anyone who manages to cross paths with this individual will not be dissatisfied.
Mamaa is a friendly man filled with compassion, sweetness, a warm heart and an intense passion for music. He plays a wide range, “I play acoustic guitar and sing, mostly sad, romantic music. Time-wise, I have songs from the 40s through the 90s, with a heavy emphasis on the 50s and 60s, which was when I was learning to play and listening a lot... “I cover a lot of different genres, from country to jazz to folk. Anything I can do with a guitar and a finger-picking style.... I do mostly covers, with a few originals when people beg me to play them." The smile when he said this makes one believe that hearing an original tune may be easier than proclaimed, but you will have to find out for yourself.
Mamaa Saiz has had more than forty nine years experience in the industry and that is clearly shown through his music. It's an interesting story about how he started his musical career. “When I was about 7 or 8, I went to a party with my parents. There was a band playing country music, and I was fascinated. I knew then that was what I wanted to do. I talked my parents into piano lessons, and got started learning.”
You may be asking yourself, the piano? When did the journey of guitar playing begin? Well, that, too, came with quite a fascinating tale. “After an argument with my dad, I came home to find my piano had been sold. So, I saved my lunch money and bought an old guitar at a pawn shop. Within a year I was in a band, and starting to make money with my music.”
As you can tell, Mamaa has had a strong passion for music since the beginning, and would not let anything stand in his way.

Although Mamaa has had breaks from music throughout his career, he seems to never lose his talent. “I have had several breaks ... Military service, raising a family, and etcetera. Coming to Second Life is sort of my comeback into music after 11 years off.”
If this is Mamaa’s big comeback into the music industry, what brought him here? Well, much like all of Mamaa’s stories, this too has a tale. Was it curiosity? Was it word of mouth? “I came to second life to hear a concert (Suzanne Vega). However, by the time I got in and figured out how to get around, the concert had been over for a month or so. But I decided to stay. It is fun and it was something completely different at the time.”
Mamaa Saiz has number of musician friends within Second Life. He and other musicians have met in Dallas, Texas. The experience of meeting and jamming with so many musicians face to face rather than through a screen has only increased his passion for the scene and his music.
Having attended one of Mamaa’s live performances at Molaskey’s Pub, I was blown away by his fascinating music and astounding voice. The vocal chords of a pure genius that will have your heart melt. You won't want to turn your speakers down!
During the concert, a number of different patrons had something wonderful to say. Mia Kitchensink, someone Mamaa met during the Dallas meeting said, “I love hearing Mamaa. Mamaa is so sweet.”
